Foggy or failed insulated glass units replaced without touching your existing frame. Measured and installed by MG Glass in the Atlanta metro.
Atlanta's heat and humidity put constant pressure on window seals. That repeated expansion and contraction cycle wears units down faster than in milder climates. At MG Glass, we handle IGU replacement for all types of homes — historic wood-frame windows in unique sizes, newer builds with modern spacer systems, and everything in between. We size each replacement unit to the existing frame and check frame depth before we order.

An insulated glass unit holds two or more panes separated by a spacer along the edge. The spacer creates a sealed air chamber, usually filled with dry air, that slows heat movement through the glass. The perimeter seal keeps the gas in and blocks moisture from entering. When that seal fails, haze forms inside the chamber and can't be wiped away. IGU replacement restores clear glass without replacing the entire window.
Fog trapped between the panes is the most common sign. It forms inside the sealed air space and can't be cleaned from the surface. You might also notice moisture droplets or streaks inside the glass, drafts near the window, or a hazy look from mineral deposits in the air space. When you contact us, we check the glass surface, the spacer system, and the frame before recommending a replacement.
Replacement units can include upgrades that improve how your windows perform. Low-e coatings reflect heat energy and help control indoor temperature year-round. Warm edge spacers reduce heat transfer along the perimeter and limit condensation near the glass edge. Dry air fills are standard in most residential replacements. We walk you through coatings, spacer types, and gas fills before we order.

Most homes use double pane insulated glass units. Two panes sit on either side of a sealed air space, cutting energy loss compared to older single-pane glass. While rare, triple paned windows are possible in some newer windows. There typically isn't enough room in a window to accommodte triple paned glass. Triple pane units add a third pane and a second sealed chamber for better insulation and noise reduction — a good fit for homes near busy roads or areas with big temperature swings. We check your frame and sash first to confirm it can support the extra weight and thickness.
We protect your floors and nearby surfaces before we start. The failed unit comes out, we check the glazing pocket, and prep the frame for the new glass. The replacement IGU goes into the frame and gets secured using the correct glazing method. Before we leave, we confirm the sash closes correctly, the glass sits evenly, and the window operates smoothly.

Juan Marquez started MG Glass in 1999 with a pickup truck in Lawrenceville. He still oversees every project. The crew is fully insured, and we regularly take on jobs other companies pass on — unusual frame sizes, historic windows, older homes where nothing is standard. If something isn't right, we fix it.

Atlanta's heat and humidity put constant pressure on window seals. Hot summers cause the sealed air chamber to expand and cool winters cause it to contract. That repeated cycle weakens the seal and lets moisture in.
Yes. In most cases, the frame and sash stay in place. We remove the failed unit and install a new one in the existing frame.
Not if the unit is built and sealed correctly. We use quality spacers and seals rated for hot, humid conditions. A properly sealed unit will stay clear for years.
Most replacements finish in one visit once the new unit arrives. From first contact to finished install, the process usually takes one to two weeks.
Great communication, pricing and installation. Friendly and helpful guys were able to replace a custom build window. Thank you!
I can't justly describe the amount of money this team saved us on updating the 43 windows in our home. The team was first class from their survey to their installation process and production timelines. Other firms didn't get it right. Finally, they really stand by their work!
Update 10/1/2022 I've changed my rating to 5 stars. Last month MG Glass reached out to advise they received in the square hinges and asked if I wanted to swap out. Why of course!!! This is excellent customer service - own it and make it right! Love how my glass shower door. So many compliments. I've added a new pic of the square hinges. So far so good! Love the way my frameless shower door looks. The reason for the 4 star and not 5 star, my hardware doesn't match the style. The handle and clips are square but the hinges are curved.
