MG Glass installs custom glass systems for homes and businesses across Scottdale and the East Atlanta area. We measure and fabricate every panel to fit your space, whether that means a frameless shower enclosure in a 1980s East Ponce home, glass railings on a renovated back deck, storefront glass for a small Scottdale-area retailer, or an insulated glass unit replacement. Family-run since 1999, 100% Licensed & Insured. Request a free quote and we'll measure on site.
The 1980s-era homes along the East Ponce de Leon corridor often have original tile bathrooms in tighter footprints, and a frameless enclosure opens the space visually without changing the floor plan. Every shower we build is templated to the actual room. Frameless construction strips away the bulky metal perimeter you see on builder-grade kits, lets natural light pass through the glass, and puts your existing tile and fixture work on display instead of hiding it behind a frame. Walls in older Scottdale bathrooms often sit out of plumb by a quarter inch or more, which is exactly why a custom-templated frameless door fits cleanly where a stock kit will not. We use heavy 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch tempered safety glass, polymer seals rated for high humidity, and professional-grade hinges built to last. Learn More

Glass railings give Scottdale homes a clean, modern sightline on renovated rear decks and second-floor additions without sacrificing the safety barrier a code-compliant railing provides. We install both base-shoe systems, where tempered glass panels sit in a continuous aluminum channel anchored to the deck or stair, and standoff (point-fixed) systems, where polished stainless fittings hold each panel away from the surface for a floating look. Both options work for 1980s-era multi-story homes with renovated outdoor living spaces. We install systems that meet DeKalb County building code for residential railing height and load, and we evaluate the deck structure during the on-site measure before recommending a mounting type. The original 1980s double-pane windows across Scottdale's housing stock are now 40-plus years old, and the edge seals on those insulated glass units are now reaching the end of their lifespan. Once the seal breaks, the gas fill leaks out, moisture works its way between the panes, clarity drops, and the window loses much of its insulation value. Georgia's humidity and the wide temperature swings between summer afternoons and winter mornings wear those seals down faster than drier climates. We replace the IGU itself rather than tearing out the entire frame and sash where the existing frame is sound, which keeps cost and turnaround tighter for homes built during Scottdale's 1980s residential build cycle. East Ponce de Leon Avenue is Scottdale's main commercial artery, with small retail, restaurants, and service businesses lining the corridor through to neighboring Avondale Estates and Clarkston. Storefront glass takes daily wear from heavy foot traffic, weather exposure, and the everyday opening and closing cycle. We install aluminum-framed storefront systems with tempered glass and thermal breaks for energy efficiency, plus full-height Herculite all-glass doors as a clean entrance option for restaurants and boutiques that want a frameless look at the front of the house. We also coordinate DeKalb County commercial permits and inspections so the storefront, partition, or curtain-wall scope lands on schedule. Learn More on Storefronts · Learn More on Herculite

Commercial spaces drive most of the custom mirror work we do around Scottdale. Fitness studios and gyms along the East Ponce de Leon corridor need full-wall mirrors templated to wrap corners and clear baseboards. Restaurants use decorative mirror installations to open up dining rooms and bounce ambient light back across the space. Small offices and salon suites in the Scottdale commercial district install mirrored vanity walls cut to fit irregular wall geometry around outlets, sconces, and HVAC returns. We measure every wall on site and cut each panel from heavy plate mirror with polished or beveled edges to match the design. Residential mirror work for Scottdale homeowners is welcome on the same site visit. Learn More

Wine cellars are becoming a quiet upgrade in renovated 1980s Scottdale homes, where homeowners convert a finished basement rec room or a formal dining area into a modest glass-fronted display room for a working collection. We build the enclosure with insulated glass panels that hold stable temperature and humidity around the bottles, full-height frameless glass doors, and silicone-joined corners that keep the room reading as a clean architectural feature rather than a closet retrofit. We also fabricate etched, frosted, and textured decorative panels for entryways, pantry doors, and pocket-door inserts. Learn More
Storefronts along East Ponce de Leon Avenue and the small commercial properties through the Scottdale corridor need a fast response after storm damage, a delivery accident, or a break-in, because an open glass front cannot stay open overnight in an active commercial block. We provide same-day and next-day board-up coverage for damaged storefronts, mirror walls, and residential glass, then fabricate the replacement panel on a separate timeline once the opening is measured. We also install threat-resistant laminated glazing for commercial entrances where security against forced entry is a priority. Learn More

Yes. We evaluate the existing wall framing during the on-site measure and add blocking behind the tile where needed before fabrication begins. Most 1980s-era Scottdale homes have standard 2x4 framing that supports a heavy frameless enclosure with light prep, and the templated fit handles any out-of-plumb conditions in the existing bathroom.
No. We do not handle any permitting. It is not necessary to do so.
Yes. Georgia's humidity and the wide temperature swings between summer and winter wear down both the polymer sweeps on shower doors and the edge seals on double-pane windows. Scottdale homes with original 1980s double-pane glazing are reaching the end of their original seal life right now, and most fogged units in the area are 35 to 40 years past install. We use polymer seals rated for high-humidity climates on shower installs and replace IGU seals when fog develops between the panes.
Yes. We install base-shoe and standoff-mount glass railing systems that meet DeKalb County residential code for railing height and load. The on-site measure evaluates the deck or addition structure first, then we recommend the mounting type that fits the framing and the architectural sightlines you want preserved.
Yes. We provide same-day or next-day board-up services for damaged storefronts across Scottdale, East Ponce de Leon, and the adjacent Avondale Estates commercial blocks. Replacement panels are templated and fabricated on a separate timeline to match the original storefront system, so the permanent repair restores the original look.

Scottdale, Georgia is a small, historic community in DeKalb County, tucked between Decatur, Avondale Estates, and Clarkston just east of Atlanta. Originally a cotton-mill village built around the Scottdale Mills, this tight-knit, unincorporated town is known for its rich working-class history, neighborhood parks, and convenient access to downtown Decatur, area universities, and Stone Mountain throughout the metro Atlanta area.
Great communication, pricing and installation. Friendly and helpful guys were able to replace a custom build window. Thank you!
I can't justly describe the amount of money this team saved us on updating the 43 windows in our home. The team was first class from their survey to their installation process and production timelines. Other firms didn't get it right. Finally, they really stand by their work!
Update 10/1/2022 I've changed my rating to 5 stars. Last month MG Glass reached out to advise they received in the square hinges and asked if I wanted to swap out. Why of course!!! This is excellent customer service - own it and make it right! Love how my glass shower door. So many compliments. I've added a new pic of the square hinges. So far so good! Love the way my frameless shower door looks. The reason for the 4 star and not 5 star, my hardware doesn't match the style. The handle and clips are square but the hinges are curved.
